management practices. The study investigates a variety of topics, including hydrological
conditions, socioeconomic factors, current water management techniques, technical concerns,
policy assistance, community engagement, and monitoring and evaluation procedures. The key
findings show that pond water levels are declining and groundwater supplies are under
increasing pressure as a result of variables such as population growth and climate change.
Community involvement is believed critical to the success of water harvesting operations. Pond
size, location, and sedimentation management have all been identified as important factors
influencing system effectiveness. From the respondents, the study found several ideas of policy
assistance, capacity building, and strong monitoring procedures are proposed to enhance the
resilience and sustainability of pond-based water harvesting systems. The study emphasizes the
relevance of integrated water management practices and their potential to address water scarcity,
boost agriculture, and promote environmental sustainability in Joypurhat, Bangladesh. This
research is a gateway to the large number of abandoned ponds in Bangladesh which again can be
restored and used effectively. |
